Wind tunnel goes into operation (5/27/2004)

Dr. Sinha recently finished construction of a wind tunnel that will be used to advance work on the deturbulator project. It went into operation the week of 5/24/2004. He is proceeding to measure the aerodynamic characteristics of this new tool which will be the main player in his NASA Langley funded project. It will also be used to study issues related to manufacturing SinhaFCSD. (more)

Airspeeds shown in graphs are instrument calibrated. The aircraft airspeed system is not calibrated. Errors in the Standard Cirrus static/Pitot system bias the data towards higher speeds. This makes polars seem better than they really are. However, this is not an issue when the purpose is only to show comparitive data on the same glider.
